Diabetes

Why do I have diabetes?

Diabetes results from a poor diet, lack of exercise, and unstable sugar levels. High blood sugar (glucose) due to a poor diet harms nerves and blood vessels which affects circulation in the limbs and extremities. This often leads to diabetic neuropathy, which damages nerve fibers, causing numbness that leads to injuries and/or infections due to decreased sensations.

What are the symptoms of diabetes?

Most early symptoms are caused by higher-than-normal levels of glucose, a kind of sugar, in your blood. Unfortunately, the warning signs of diabetes are often so mild that patients fail to notice them until more severe problems occur. However, there are a few telltale symptoms to be aware of, including:

  • Persistent hunger
  • Fatigue
  • Excessive thirst
  • Frequent urination
  • Blurred vision
  • Unexplained weight loss
  • Tingling or numbness in hands or feet
  • Frequent infections

The only way to know for certain if you have diabetes is to visit one of our trained physicians at Advanced Physical Medicine.

How can Advanced Physical Medicine treat my diabetes?

Our expert medical team is highly trained in diagnosing and treating patients with Type 1, Type 2, and pre-diabetes, as well as neuropathy and obesity. As part of our commitment to providing the best outcomes for patients suffering from diabetes, we utilize a groundbreaking FDA-approved treatment process called Physiologic Insulin Resensitization (PIR).

Through the use of this advanced treatment technique, our licensed and certified physicians and staff have consistently seen a reduction of the effects of diabetes on the body, and in many cases, a reversal of diabetes-related complications. For added peace of mind, PIR treatment is covered by most insurances.

What is PIR?

Physiologic Insulin Resensitization (PIR) is a highly effective FDA-approved treatment that uses insulin provided as a hormone instead of a drug. This revolutionary process allows the body to address the primary cause of metabolic failure by reducing insulin resistance to increase cellular energy. The body then uses this energy to repair and regenerate damaged organs and tissues while stabilizing and even reversing complications associated with diabetes. PIR has also shown exceptional results in diabetic wound patients by increasing the speed and efficiency of wound healing. Other benefits of this life-changing treatment include:

  • Restored energy
  • Diminished neuropathy
  • Weight management
  • Better blood sugar control
  • Restored erectile function
  • Improved mood and sleep
  • Mitigated dementia
  • Alleviated Alzheimer’s
  • Accelerated stroke recovery
  • Fatty liver reduction
  • Amputation prevention

How long until the treatments begin working?

Many patients will notice a temporary relief of their pain, numbness and tingling within the first few visits. Some patients have even had considerable relief after just the first treatment. This relief will be temporary at first and may last between 2-4 hours. Then, gradually increase with each successive treatment. Generally, patients will notice marked improvement in 4-6 weeks.
